Press Release
News Article  October 2005

RICHARDSON, Texas, Oct. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Samsung continues to expand its product portfolio and services far beyond the world of consumer electronics, with the release of the powerful OfficeServ(TM) 7200 converged platform. The OfficeServ 7200 marks the introduction of the company's converged platform for voice and data communications using wireline and wireless technologies, making it one of the most efficient and flexible platforms for business communications solutions currently available.

Capitalizing on Samsung's extensive expertise and long history in developing wireline, wireless, voice and digital convergence equipment, the OfficeServ 7200 allows end-users to leverage new capabilities not previously available to them, via Samsung products such as IP-based, in-office mobility and OfficeServ applications.

"The convergence of wireless and wireline is that next step in enterprise communications," said Steve Gobeli, vice president of Samsung Telecommunications America, Business Communication Systems Division. "For Samsung and its dealers, the OfficeServ 7200 opens a new market by allowing us to converge the data and IP wireless applications for small-to-medium sized business communications. For our business end-users, the platform increases convenience, efficiencies and application possibilities while reducing costs by maximizing the capabilities of one platform."

OfficeServ 7200 handles voice calls and data using a flexible array of modules, including Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) modules and a 10/100Base-T Ethernet interface. This provides an integrated wireless and wireline platform that provides full support for Samsung's VoIP, Wireless LAN (WLAN), and traditional phones and IP-based data and other business communications peripherals and allows for voice call Quality of Service (QoS) control. The solution also offers Samsung's SVMi-20E, a fully integrated voice-processing platform that provides flexible auto attendant and call processing functionality. In addition, Samsung's SVMi-20E, through the Samsung E-Mail Gateway, delivers voicemail to SMTP e-mail clients as a .wav file attachment.

"The beauty of this platform is not only its support for different types of traffic and equipment but also the applications it enables such as OfficeServ(TM) Wireless or OfficeServ(TM) DataView," added Gobeli. "These and other OfficeServ enhanced applications this platform supports allow businesses to have more information at their fingertips, more call control functions, better voice and data connections and ultimately, provide better service to their customers."

The OfficeServ Wireless solution, supported on the iDCS 100 IP-enabled, iDCS 500 IP-enabled and the OfficeServ 7200 platforms, combines high quality voice features with the in-building freedom and security of wireless handsets providing a fully-featured mobility solution for businesses over their Wireless Local Area Network. The OfficeServ DataView application is Samsung's call center solution that combines automatic call distribution capabilities with historical reporting and supervisor monitoring for IP-enabled iDCS and OfficeServ platforms.

The OfficeServ 7200 converged platform, OfficeServ Wireless and OfficeServ DataView are available now through Samsung's dealer network.
