Nawras launches commercial services in Oman

New Omani market entrant Nawras announced it launched commercial services in the country on Wednesday. Nawras becomes the second GSM operator in the market joining incumbent operator OmanTel. Nawras is a joint venture between Qatar Telecom, Denmark's TDC and prominent Omani partners. Oman has a population of over 2.9 million and a mobile penetration rate of 25.8%. OmanTel had 750,000 subscribers as of end-September.
