Press Release:

Ditech Communications Introduces Its Next Generation Echo Cancellation Solution

Press Release
News Article  March 2005

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., March 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Ditech Communications Corporation, (NASDAQ:DITC) , a leader in the development of voice processing systems for communications networks, today introduced its next generation in voice quality solutions, combining industry-leading 192 millisecond hybrid echo cancellation and unparalleled bi-directional acoustic echo cancellation to control the effects of echo across converging networks. Ditech's next generation solution enables mobile carriers to provide superior voice quality in increasingly complex network interconnections and as they transition from circuit to packet, protecting both the caller and call recipient from the annoying effects of echo regardless of the network infrastructure in the call path.

The advanced echo cancellation application is available on Ditech Communications' Broadband Voice Processor(TM) (BVP-Flex) platform and leverages the advanced voice processing capabilities of Ditech's Voice Quality Assurance (VQA(TM)). The application enables carriers to combat echo problems introduced by the diversity of interconnections across wireline and wireless networks. Ditech's industry-leading 192 millisecond hybrid echo cancellation capability overcomes voice quality impairments introduced in circuit networks, amplified in more complex call routes and intensified by the longer delays in packet transport.

Ditech's unique bi-directional acoustic echo cancellation capability allows carriers to protect subscribers from acoustic echo originated by handsets on either side of a mobile conversation. The 400 millisecond acoustic echo processing window ensures protection from network call paths that now may have longer delays due to complex routing and packet transport.

Benchmarking of voice quality performance is emerging as a required competitive and diagnostic tool in carrier networks. Ditech's new solution includes voice quality monitoring capabilities with on-system logging as well as server based long-term quality measurement information storage. These capabilities enable a carrier to identify echo sources in its own network as well as those generated in interconnected networks.

"Ditech's advanced echo cancellation solution is another product of our continued investment in excellence in voice processing," said Tim Montgomery, president and CEO of Ditech Communications. "The delivery of high quality voice services is becoming more challenging to our customers as telecom interconnections become more complex and include packet transport. These changes place greater demands on hybrid and acoustic echo cancellation equipment. Our advanced echo cancellation solution strikes at the heart of the matter to enable carriers to stay ahead of this network evolution and provide the superior voice quality delivered by traditional network infrastructures."
