E-Plus Mobilfunk Chooses Aepona for Value-Added Service Roll-Out

Call Completion ‘Red Key’ First of New Services Road-Map

Stand F63 Hall 2, 3GSM Congress, CannesAepona, the leading telecommunications software company, today announced that E-Plus Mobilfunk had become the latest mobile operator to base its new service roll-out plans on the Aepona Causeway™ Carrier-Network Operating System.

E-Plus, based in Düsseldorf, has over 9.5 million mobile subscribers in the German market and is a subsidiary of KPN – the leading telecommunications company in the Netherlands

E-Plus has selected Aepona’s Causeway Carrier-Network Operating System in order to be able to roll-out a series of customer engaging services.  The first of these new services is ‘Red Key’ call answering – a new service that provides customers an alternative to voicemail to answer incoming calls.  When subscribers receive an incoming call, by selecting the red key they can generate an immediate response to the caller notifying them that the called person is busy.  For subscribers who have not set up a voicemail service on their account, Red Key call answering allows incoming calls to be completed more effectively.

The Red Key call answer application was provided by Solomio – an Aepona application partner that has developed call handling applications ideally suited to the open-standards based Aepona Causeway platform.

Mario Roemer, Director Core Network CE, said, “Aepona Causeway gives us the opportunity to launch new services easier, faster and cheaper  using any development resource, including our own, or slotting in ready developed applications.  By having an open platform like Causeway, our service roll-out strategy is future proof  and will benefit us and our customers.”

Liam McQuillan, Aepona’s CEO agrees.  “E-Plus is the latest example of a forward-thinking operator that has invested in Aepona Causeway for sheer common sense reasons.  We allow operators to be freed from the proprietary application development environments that they have become used to.  The result is that operators like E-Plus can roll out new services a lot more easily and cost effectively than in the past.  They can address customer issues more readily and put solutions in place that fix problems and create revenue.  That’s exactly why we introduced this product and I’m delighted that yet another carrier has embraced it.”
