Innovative VoIP Service Offered Under Nationwide Pilot Program
BELLEVUE, WA, Feb. 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Ecuity, Inc., (OTCBB: ECUI.OB), a leading enhanced Voice over Internet communications company serving the small-to-medium business and residential markets, and Azatel Communications, a manufacturer of integrated SIP and MGCP related products, announced the joint development of Voice over Dial Up service. This partnership will, for the first time, bring the innovative benefits and cost-savings of VoIP to the currently underserved residential and small business markets that have not switched to broadband Internet access.
Over the past few months, Ecuity has worked in concert with Azatel to develop appropriate technology to bring VoIP to home and small business users with dialup internet access. In order to reduce latency of the dial-up network infrastructure, Ecuity has completed a substantial rebuild of the associated components related to the authorization and accounting of dial up Internet users.
"The network reconfiguration will substantially reduce the connection time associated with the authorization of dial up users to our authentication servers," stated Jon Schnelz, Vice President of Technology for Ecuity. "This in turn will provide for a dual mode authentication of both the username/ password functions, as well as SIP registration of Azatel's AzaDial analog terminal adapter."
The AzaDial SIP terminal adaptor is the most recent addition to the Azatel product line of SIP adaptors. Per Derek Herman, CEO of Azatel Communications, "The AzaDial is unique in that it empowers delivery of sophisticated and high quality VoIP services over lower bandwidth dial up Internet connections. In many areas within the U.S. and abroad, dial up Internet service will continue to be the connection mode of choice or necessity for many years to come. We welcome the opportunity to work with the high caliber team of VoIP experts at Ecuity in introducing this important new product to the marketplace."
The AzaDial is the first product to enable simultaneous use of an Internet connection for both data and voice services, featuring robust Class 5 telephony functionality such as call waiting, call forwarding and group calling capabilities that turn an ordinary telephone into an advanced VoIP voice terminal. Operating in conjunction with Ecuity's state of the art V-Tone VoIP platform it will provide an ideal solution for residential and small office/home office deployments.
This Voice over Dial Up service will be tested with a select group of users in multiple U.S. markets. The select users will benefit from the rich feature set associated with Ecuity's best of class services including:
- Unlimited Domestic Calling - Great International Rates - Unified messaging/Voice Mail - Do Not Disturb - Caller ID - Anonymous Call Rejection - Alternate Numbers - Multiple Ring Tones - Multi-Party Conference Calling - Call Hold - Call Forwarding - Call Waiting - Simultaneous Ring to multiple phone numbers - Many more features
"The adoption of VoIP in the residential and small business markets has been encouraging," stated King Cole, president of Ecuity. "Currently, all VoIP providers limit offering their services to broadband subscribers only. While broadband is increasing in popularity, over 60 million U.S. Internet users have not switched to broadband. We would like to offer to this segment of the market the innovative and robust features of our V-Tone services without them having to switch their Internet access."
The development of Voice over Dial Up follows the successful launch of Ecuity's V-Tone suite of advanced VoIP services. V-Tone Office provides business class VoIP, broadband services, technical support, centralized billing and customer service tailored to the communications and equipment needs of the small-to-medium business market. Ecuity offers both Centrex call features and advanced PBX call services. Smart Call, a mobile VoIP service, enables users to call any cell phone or traditional phone anywhere in the world from a PC or from Pocket PC-compatible devices such as laptops and PDAs with a broadband or VoWiFi connection. With any headset, Smart Call enables call quality that is equal to or superior to fixed phone service.
As a result of its success in delivering cutting edge Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services to customers nationwide, Ecuity's subsidiary Ecuity Advanced Communications was named to the 2004 "Pulver 100" - which is the VoIP industry's premiere listing of companies that represent the future of the communications industry.
