Press Release:

Canada Life Insures Massive Savings With IP Telephony

Press Release
News Article  October 2004

13 October 2004 - Logicalis, the assured application infrastructure provider, today announces the completion of a multimedia communications network infrastructure at international financial services provider Canada Life.  The IP-based infrastructure is estimated to produce significant cost savings over the next 12 to 24 months.

The solution, based on a single converged network, prioritises business critical applications, ensures quality of service and reduced operational and IT support costs, for the finance company’s main branch office located in Bristol.

The IP Telephony solution, hosted on centralised servers at Canada Life’s headquarters in Potter’s Bar, Hertfordshire, has radically reduced the operations expenses normally associated when aligning branch offices with the corporate network, as the system can be wholly maintained and administered remotely.

Mike Cummins, IP Communications Practice Manager at Logicalis, explains, “An IP-based network architecture delivered the performance, reduced cost outlay and immediacy to action business critical operations at Canada Life’s newly acquired Bristol office, whilst ensuring the flexibility and scalability to roll-out IP communications at Potters Bar in the future.”

Adding.  “Key to the smooth transition of IP Telephony was Logicalis’ training and support service, which is designed to ease user resistance.  Encouraging users to embrace new technology is normally a time-consuming period for IT managers, however, by looking at the whole life cycle of the project, including user concerns, market conditions, compliancy and lifestyle trends, we were able to step in and remove those issues from the equation.”

Roger Yapp, Network Services Manager at Canada Life, adds, “The solution designed by Logicalis has more than met our objectives.  We now have in place, a central, manageable network that we can build upon in the foreseeable future, which offers secure investment protection.  More importantly, we have also reduced the costs of systems support as any changes, moves or additions to Bristol’s converged network can be conducted from Potters Bar.”
